The Notepad is a blog belonging to Samuel Klee, a PhD Fellow in American Studies at the University of Oslo. Topics range from what I think about ChatGPT to recollections of growing up obsessed with the Indianapolis Colts. Some posts will be long, others short. The only thing that will tie them together is whatever I’ve been thinking of lately.

Note that this URL used to belong to my old newsletter, Ascending Bookstacks. This was a fun project where I brought the Catholic Church into conversation with leading scholars and journalists through book reviews, in order to understand topics from food and climate change to migration and technology. The Ascending Bookstacks archive is still live, here. And while The Notepad is a different project, it shares Ascending Bookstacks’ commitment to bridging faith and reason on a journey toward intellectual honesty.

Format: this newsletter lives on Substack. It does not have a Twitter presence or a Facebook page. Maybe it will go to Mastodon someday. Posts will be published irregularly, when I feel that they’re fully cooked and ready to serve.
